“African Sky Mapping” (Under African Skies) 10 x 15 minutes inserts for Radio and Television for children The series should fit in with SABC Education & the Parliamentary Millennium Project (PMP) objectives to illustrate a range of perspectives on and of Africa. It should be punchy, cutting edge, informational and visually stimulating.

The series objectives are:

• The series must highlight the importance of oral tradition in the storage and dissemination of knowledge
  
  
• It must fit in with the SABC Education and School TV brand on SABC 2
  
  
• Using concepts emerging from the PMP exhibitions, the series should make a dynamic contribution to our nation's knowledge stock, and foster an appreciation of our rich cultural heritage.

The series outcomes are:

• To address the absence of cultural pride and the possible erosion of oral tradition within the greater African society.
  
  
• To contribute to the preservation and sustenance of oral traditions.
  
  
• To use oral tradition to transfer societal values to the next generation.
  
  
• The series should make a dynamic contribution to our nation’s knowledge stock, and foster an appreciation of our rich heritage.
  
  
• To be cost effective and sustainable with a long shelf life.
